LIO_ AMOURS TOUJOURS_ ORIGINALY RELEASED 1982

In 1983, 19 years old Lio was already catapulted to fame overnight, her image of sexy Baby Doll plastered across the covers of mainstream european music magazine, her reputation of "Techno Pop" artist already estabished, as a golden path where she had to follow. Of course, Lio decided otherwise and wrong-footed everyone with her third brilliant album" Amours Toujours".

With its fine and delicate melodies, its daring but nevertheless gentle vocals, "Amour Toujours" falls within the scoop of purely traditional french songs; an ambiance perfectly displayed by famous photographer Robert Doisneau who shot the album cover and the pictures included in this booklet. On this new mellow music perspective, everywhere is felt the influence of producer Alain Chamfort who brings his whole variété background in Lio’s lolita universe. From this typicaly french association ensues a serie of sincere and touching songs (« La Vérité Toute Nue », « Je Voudrais Bien Me Sentir Mal », « Motus à la Muette ») where you can still notice the distinctive lyrics of words-lover Jacques Duvall. After the energetic effervescence of her first albums she showed her ability to follow another path, softer and milder.

This eclectic approach is also perfectly resumed in Lio’s multiple side projects, especially her first appearance in the cinema under the direction of Chantal Akerman in a musical kitsh and pop movie called Golden Eighties, soon followed by the film of Didier Hautepin Elsa Elsa (in which, incidentally, Lio’s co-star is French pop singer Tom Novembre). Far from being disappointed, the audience was still pleased with the new direction of his lolita, soon confirmed by the commercial success of later released single « Tétéou » (which is included here on the bonus tracks).

Whatever the team behind the desk, whatever the colour of her songs, Lio’s music is still what a Belgium reviewer/archivist once said: "a perfect french bubble-gum pop by a vivid young girl"....
